Senior Systems Engineers

We are seeking Senior Systems Engineers to work with our advanced customers across the globe in this highly technical role. This is a very visible and key position within this rapidly growing company.


As an Apstra Senior Systems Engineer you will be the technical side of the Sales team, both an expert and visionary in the field. You will be responsible for educating customers, understanding their technical & business issues, managing their deployment and development projects, providing support, and helping to develop and refine its innovative solutions. You must have strong communication skills for customer presentations, industry events and providing a feedback loop to Product Management.

Duties Include:

  • Analyze customer network infrastructure for potential opportunities to demonstrate our solution’s unique capabilities
  • Work independently to evaluate prospective customers’ networks and deliver the appropriate evaluation, ROI, savings, proposed operational evolution and associated process management
  • Work closely with Sales and Engineering to resolve technical issues that arise during customer testing and demo creation
  • Create compelling test plans, demos, and customer presentations
  • Drive improved testing, demos, deployment, architecture, monitoring and reports leading to compelling pre-sales support for sales organization
  • Participate in internal projects that help scale the group, implement best practices, and improve our methodology and quality of performance testing
  • Work with customer success team during onboarding process

A strong technical knowledge of datacenter networking is crucial as is hands-on experience with automation as it relates to networking devices.

  • BS degree in engineering, computer science or similar relevant field or equivalent
  • Deep technical knowledge of datacenter network architecture, SDN, and large-scale private cloud networks. Knowledge of IBNS is a plus.
  • Experience with network technologies (routing, switching, automation, systems management, troubleshooting and architecture) including knowledge from the application layer down to the physical layer
  • Proficiency in configuration and troubleshooting common network vendor solutions with Cisco, Arista, Cumulus, Juniper and Snaproute a plus
  • Knowledge of automation technologies including Ansible playbooks, Chef recipes, Puppet, Python scripting and JSON programming is preferred
  • Experience using network management and troubleshooting tools
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills

Join our Advanced Solutions Team


  • Obtain requirements from customers, either directly at customer site, or indirectly via customer enablement team
  • Discuss and refine customer requirements with customer / customer enablement
  • Implement new AOS reference designs per customer requirements, including blueprint data modeling
  • Implement various plugins for new reference designs, including but not limited to those for blueprint building, expectations rendering, anomaly generation, configuration rendering, API
  • Implement any new platform capabilities needed to complete new reference designs. These may include new telemetry data collection plugins, support for new device platforms, creation / enhancements of on-box or off-box device agents, resource pool management agents
  • Implement and maintain unit tests and integration tests for all of the above
  • Implement and maintain system tests involving virtual and physical devices for all of the above

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proficient in Python programming or a similar language; if different language, must be able to pick up Python quickly
  • Solid knowledge in unit testing
  • Solid experience working with Linux-based systems; alternatively, solid knowledge in systems programming

Join Our Developer Productivity Team

As a Developer Productivity Engineer, you will be part of Apstra engineering team and help scale and facilitate our product development process. In this role, you will develop, extend and maintain Apstra build and test infrastructure.


  • Develop and maintain tools that automate build, tests and streamline software development tasks
  • Design and Develop an highly scalable CI infrastructure
  • Be part of the Engineering team to identify new requirements and needs to speed up feature development and testing by building tools and infrastructure
  • Design and develop analytics to characterize build/test automation performance and scaling
  • Monitoring production systems for performance regressions or failures and react to them to maximize uptime and quality of service

Minimum Qualifications

  • MS/BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Solid understanding of build systems and experience with CI/CD process and tools
  • Solid understanding of test infrastructure for unit and integration testings
  • 3+ years experience of software development (Python or other OOP language) and frameworks for unit/integration testings like nose or pytest
  • Solid experience working with Linux-based systems

Support Tools Engineer


  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of Apstra Support Tools, including our
    Documentation, Download and Support Portals
  • Responsible for the integration of Support Tools with other internal systems and external third-party applications
  • Assist with the organization and production of all external and internal technical product documentation
  • Develop training for other employees on best practices for how to use Apstra Support Tools
  • Assist with the support of Apstra Support internal and external Customers

Minimum Qualifications

Network Infrastructure Engineer

Apstra is looking for an IT/Network Engineer in the Bay Area for a full time position. The candidate will deploy and manage our production and testing network in our datacenter, implement solutions to monitor and proactively identify issues and implement security and IT best practices.


  • Work with Engineering, System Test and IT group to design, deploy and support production development and testing network datacenter infrastructure
  • Deploy new servers and network devices to be used for our production or testing infrastructure
  • Design and implement monitoring solutions, configuration and services backups, security policies and solve IT incidents
  • Work with IT group to implement network security with IPSec, Remote Access VPN, Identity Access Management and RBAC
  • Monitor LAN infrastructure activity and performance for identifying potential security issues, performance, utilization, QOS
  • Utilize available network troubleshooting tools, including network packet captures, monitoring devices, log files, and customer input to facilitate effective issue resolution
  • Create network and server rack face elevations, floor plans, wire diagram and details port maps for new deployments and documentation

Minimum Qualifications

  • Hands on and in-depth knowledge with networking devices such as switches, routers, firewalls
  • Familiarity with Linux Servers and virtualization technologies and products (VMware ESXi, KVM)
  • Familiarity with Storage technologies and products (TrueNAS, NFS)
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex situations and utilize troubleshooting skills, systems, and tools, and have presented creative problem-solving abilities under pressure
  • Ability to rack and stack servers and network devices. Requires the ability to frequently bend, lift and move up to 50 pounds of equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience with training and certifications
  • 5-7 years hands-on experience working in the IT industry with an emphasis in network engineering
  • Familiarity with multiple Network Operating Systems such as Cisco NXOS, Arista EOS, Cumulus Linux, OpenSwitch, SONiC
  • Familiarity with open source solutions for networking, security and storage, such as PFSense and TrueNAS
  • Open to change and ready to try out Apstra products and features on a real production networks. Ability to work within a global team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with limited supervision
