Apstra AOS™ 2.0 is now available for evaluation by potential customers in a self-contained online portal.

Cloudlabs contains everything you need to begin exploring how an Intent-Based Networking System can quickly improve your network operational capabilities.  Within an isolated environment you can test all of the tools in AOS to design, build, deploy and operate your complex private and hybrid cloud systems.

Each lab includes Apstra’s AOS Server, which provides full lifecycle management capabilities for a mixed vendor topology.

AOS Cloudlabs provides a platform and tool set that allows you to:

  • Learn how an IBN can radically decrease operational costs while increasing agility
  • Educate yourself on intent-derived network states and how AOS can improve your business
  • Test existing network configurations with AOS for automated lifecycle management of complex network topologies
  • Integrate AOS with third-party systems like performance monitoring and visualizations on a time series database

You can access Cloudlabs with any modern browser. All of the user interfaces can be reached immediately and there is also an embedded console view so you can log into each switch to test things at the CLI. Cloudlabs also allows the end user to connect directly to each device via native SSH from your favorite terminal application.

As soon as you power on the lab, AOS deploys the running configurations to the devices and immediately validates that everything is functioning properly. Cloudlabs includes switches to insert faults into the network so the operator can see how anomalies are displayed and reported. The scenarios currently supported include physical cabling faults and configuration deviations.

Cloudlabs also has workflows to reset the AOS server to a base configuration, architects can use this scenario to build the network themselves in just a few minutes. The build process is documented in Lab 2, which walks through all of the steps necessary to create a template with our intent, and then attach the switches to the network in the proper location.

What’s included

Every Cloudlab pod includes all of the virtual devices and configuration needed to fully simulate a complex L2/L3 datacenter fabric.  A minimum of two different vendor network operating systems are included, enabling you to see different configuration syntax and how AOS uses Logical Devices to avoid pitfalls caused by vendor specific CLIs.

CloudLabs provides access via any browser or SSH

Workflows, Simulations, and Training Scenarios

AOS takes high level business logic from the administrator to create a record of "Intent" which drives the design and operations of the network system.

Intent is translated into the functions and behavior of the network and AOS instantly creates the proper device configurations for all nodes in the system.

System health and integrity is constantly monitored and validated according to the original requirements, without the admin having to configure monitoring tools.

Cloudlabs is designed for extensibility, allowing an architect to connect directly from their favorite shell or terminal. This means you can easily test out advanced functionality like extensible telemetry, custom applications and dashboards, and third party integrations.  A dedicated development environment with a desktop GUI is available on the proxy server for added convenience.
